    three question test.

but first how old are you? this answer applies to the next three questions

    1. did you take your toys apart?

    2. did you put your toys back together?

    3. did they work when you were done?

Answer those three questions and I better not hear something like I didn't take my X box apart it was to expensive,

Hello, @ kcscott. I'll summarize my answers in one: I am very mechanically inclined. My wish is to learn from the best source possible. It won't be long before I start picking up the good stuff. I want to learn with the idea of doing all my own maintenance and mods. I am tired of paying someone "professional" to do it and still not get exactly what I was expecting. It's the same reason I do all maintenance to my off road rig; and frankly I enjoy getting my hands dirty.

You didn’t answer any of my questions.

Yep you do all the maintenance on your off road rig... what does that mean? You hose the sand off, dump the beer cans and patron bottles in the recycle bin?

Sorry you sound like every other over eager kid that thinks an armors cert is the same as being a gunsmith.

I agreen ar15barrels. Learning how to use the tools properly with feel and proper even flat strokes is something that takes time and practice. Gotta have hands on and that's what know book or video can teach you.

Lassen went to a weekly schedule back in the early 2000's (not sure if it's still the same setup). It makes it easier to "try before you buy"; you don't have to sign up for a whole semester. I went there for a while in 2002 while on a sabbatical from high tech, learned a lot about machine shop (critical). Vids and books will get to the theory (Bob Dunlap's vids through AGI are bone dry but quite descriptive, but you won't get his off-color jokes like you would in person). But as others have said, this is a hands-on craft and one should have to take a Hippocratic type oath (first, do no harm). One can inflict a lot of damage with an uncontrolled file. Think of what you could do with power tools....
