RIA Compact mag issue or slide stop

Hi guys, have a new to me RIA compact. Love the gun but have issues. I have 4 OEM mags. One of them works, the other 3 occasionally cause the slide stop to be pushed out when working the slide. The follower goes over the part of the slide stop that sticks out through the window. There is no noticeable difference between the mags. But of course with guns, things could go down to the micrometer. Anyhow, what say you guys? New slide stop? Or bogus mags?

My apologies, I'm a layman with 1911's, so pardon my ignorance.

Tough to say, could be the magazines however, i would measure the diameter of the slide stop pin as well as the frame hole in which it passes to the link. It is possible that the slide stop pin diameter is a bit undersized, EGW makes different dimension pins.

That said, RIA has fantastic customer service. I bet they'll fix it for you without charge. I would definitely give them a call first.

More likely it’s the incorrect slide stop. It real easy to mix up a 9mm and a 45, you didn’t mention caliber. So I can’t say

Thanks for the responses! I actually did contact RIA. They wanted me to ship the gun back for warranty repair. I don't really care to go through all those motions for something that seems fixable myself.

        The caliber is .45ACP.

Send it back with all the mags. Mark the mags that don't work.
It might not be the slide stop.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

The problem seems to be the magazines itself, if one works properly but the other three have issues, the troublesome magazines need to be adjusted to not engage your slide stop until completely empty. just my 2 cents, try bending the tab that engages the slide stop down a smidgen just enough to make it only lock back on empty chamber.

Update! Tried another slide stop from my friends Kimber..... other mags work fine now. Seems like mostly a slide stop problem.

Anyone have an extra slide stop for sale? USGI parked preferably. I have a WTB up, but figured I'd ask here too.

What is interesting to me is that the slide stop is starting to move out simply because the mag follower is slipping by.

How loose is that slide stop? And why is it loose? Is the plunger tube moving as well?

As others recommended and since you confirmed it yourself, a new slide stop may just be the solution.
