So I made many mistakes today due to carelessness and impatience. I think it may have cost me a small fortune.
My AR was having problems cycling at the range yesterday and I decided today to make a dummy round (no powder or primer) to see why the bolt kept sticking forward with a round in the chamber. It donned on me after making the dummy round and loading it in my AR that I had switched bullets yesterday (I loaded 50 and 60 gr bullets) and My bolt gun wasn't liking the 60gr as much. Well I never full length sized the dummy round and since I mixed it up at the range I was loading reloads from my bold gun into My AR. I'm gritting my teeth writing this right now because it was such a simple mistake but I should have known better....
Well the dummy round got stuck and so of course I stuck to my chain of incompetence and proceeded to try and remove it.. stuck a gun cleaning rod down the muzzle and gave it a nice little hit. Removed it and thought I was golden. I cleaned my barrel and take a nice close look into it and there is a deep cut in it now. Barrel only has about 150 rounds through it... My guess is the cleaning rod I used was steel and a two piece so I think where the two screw together must have had a sharp edge and dug into my barrel when I was trying to dislodge it. F*&K
really annoyed with myself
