    SKS Mag blocking

I noticed that some people have discovered that their SKS magazine will hold 11-rounds, a no-no in CA, but I haven't seen what the customary fix is (it would help if you could do boolean searches on three-letter words like "sks"). I imagine there must be a way to block it, but I was wondering how to make it permanent enough to satisfy the law without damaging a historically interesting rifle (i.e. it still being reversible), and without interfering with dumping the mag. I imagine there is a HOWTO somewhere, but what advice are people being given?

What do you need guns for if you are going to send your children, seven hours a day, 180 days a year to government schools? What do you need the guns for at that point?-- R. C. Sproul, Jr. (unconfirmed)

The magazine was not designed to accept 11 rounds; I have heard, and someone please correct me if I'm wrong, that it has to be designed to hold that many rounds, or so modified. A weak spring allowing another round to be used, or a magazine in a different caliber than can accept more of a smaller one probably isn't an issue. An example is my Lee-Enfield's magazine. It is designed as a 10-rounder, but it can hold 11 rounds.

OMG!! You're all going to jail!!!

        Ahem. :-)

I'd like it if you were correct, and I haven't heard of a prosecution for an accidental 11-round mag, but I'm skeptical that this would be a hostile DA's view. I'm even more skeptical that it would prevent drama rather than giving you a defense in court that would cost you $50k to use.
