    FAL Reassembly help

Hi guys, I have a CAI L1A1 featureless and am trying to get her back together. Rifle has an Imbel receiver with what I think is an inch L1A1 parts kit. Currently trying to get the hammer spring housing assembly back in. I'm trying to release the hammer to move it forward, but the hammer won't release. I can see the trigger depress the pin, but hammer goes no where. Help! What am I doing wrong?

Can you post a pic? Not sure what pin you're referring to.

I just reassembled one of my lowers the other day. The SLR is a bit different, but the parts inside the lower should assemble the same way as with other FALs. After the trigger, sear, sear spring and plunger are in, I put the hammer in and secure it with the axis pin. I pull the trigger so that the sear clears the hammer and rotate it forward if it's not already so oriented. I then put in the hammer axle locking plate into place and line it up with the hole on the right side for the selector. This tend to pull the hammer back up somewhat. I insert the selector from left to right. The hammer should be nearly vertical at this point. Then I put the hammer spring plunger's tip into the slot in the hammer and push the housing in until at least the edge catches, and then use something hard to push it all the way in.

Remove the selector and try again. Hold down the trigger and rotate the hammer up. I assume you already have the fixing plate installed there?
