    Build M16A4 information

I am interested in building an M16A4. I am somewhat handy with tools and have a modest shop. I can find all sorts of threads in forums on some who have cloned the M16, but it's obvious that I need to educate myself on the weapon and the process. Is there a recommended book on home gunsmithing? I'm not too excited about the AK, but I suppose I could be talked into the AR15. Is there a book on the M16 somewhere?

I don't have a clue as to where to go for parts, although I have done searches on things like the Sabre 20" barrel and the Sampson Rail. I guess the best would be a tutorial specific to the M16. The problem for me will be in ordering the required parts so that they all fit and work.

I have a couple of lists like the following:
    DPMS Lower
    UTG 4-way stock
Armalite Flat Top Upper w/20" barrel
    UTG red/green dot sight
    UTG Quad Rail
    NCstar Bipod

All help in getting me educated enough to do the task greatly appreciated.

Edit: OK I already have a little more knowledge. I gather the M16 is actually illegal because it's fully auto and the AR-15 is OK as it is semi-auto. So I guess what I'm looking for is the AR-15?

You might want to consider a lower parts kit so you can have a trigger and such.

            Thanks for the help...

Great thanks for the help. I see I have a bit studying to do before I get on board and get something functional. Sounds like a fun project.

You like a gun better if you build it yourself. Just like handloading. Pride in doing it yourself.

DPMS lower not allowed in this state.
