I took a M4 Colt Armorers class. The instructor handed out 2X4's that were about 10" long with about a 1/2" groove cut down the middle. Worked like a champ!

Hockey pucks have all kinds of great shop uses, especially if you have 4 or more.
Glue neoprene to them and they make great anti-slip spacers for routing wood.
Put one on each end of a motorcycle/atv lift rails and it'll clear the bottom of the case.

I forgot all about hockey pucks. I need a hard rubber bumper to prevent metal-on-metal contact for a machine, and a hockey puck will be perfect. Thanks for the tip!

These were THE bench blocks back in the good old days

I bought a chap plastic one years back, and a metal one from brownells. Metal is good when you REALLY have to whack something and get it to move

Hockey pucks have all kinds of great shop uses, ......

And you can also use one as a record clamp for your turntable. Just find the center and drill a hole slightly smaller than the spindle.
