    silver solder

I have several chrome lined AR 14.5 barrels that need the silver soldered flash suppressors removed. The barrels are new and just installed in the uppers. I will need to have the new wimpy Kalifornia brakes installed to beat registration. I'm in Tustin area of Socal. If you guys know of a smith that is a guru at this please let me know. Thanks, Rod

IF it's only soldered, go to home depot get some propane/butane gas, heat it up and slip it off with a pair of pliers. Done in 5 min or less.

Thanks guys, I may go a different direction and sell the barrels as legal shorties, and rebarrel. Thanks for the replies and PM's. Rod

Buy a fab 10 lower for them. Or fill your bullet button with epoxy and paint black

Do some more research into how the muzzle devices are actually attached.
I charge $30 to remove a pinned and welded muzzle device.

Randall would be a great choice.

I have have a few pistols fixed by a smith who is in Covina.

                    Might be an easier drive

It is not conventional silver solder that is used on pipes. That stuff doesn't stick to plain steel very well if even at all. It is more like a silver braze than a silver solder. You need an oxy-fuel torch, not a plain propane torch.

Yes, completely different deal. We used to call regular solder (lead-tin mix) soft solder, Silver solder is completely different. You would be hard pressed to get your brake hot enough with anything less than Oxy/acetylene, or equivalent.
