If you use some type of liquid it will get into the barrel threads where they go into the frame. I doubt you could get all of it out/nuteralized without pulling the barrel and it will keep eating away.

Yep, been using a 50:50 solution of white vineger and water for years to clean up boat brass and bronze...

Have you ever had that happen?? Maybe a soak in baking soda and water would take care of that problem??

Only way is to remove the barrel, clean the threads of barrel and frame than install.

I use muriatic acid from home depot. Takesthe rust off and blue instantaneously, near-zero scrubbing.

Must neutralize in baking soda solution and oil right away too or else the white finish will flash rust in an hour or two and you have to start over.

Be aware it will self patina over time. We do it all the time with rifles but i dont think the results will be attractive for a revolver. Id strip and rust blue it. Mark lee express.
