Site Pusher Tools for Glock and XD?

What would be your recommendation for a good site pusher tool that accommodates variants of glock and XDs? I'd love if the pusher could work on 1911 style slides as well.

I've read a million reviews of different slide pushers, but would love to hear from some folks that have done the work.

While I'm aware I can use a vice, punch and hammer, this is not what I asked.
If I were going to do that, I wouldn't have posted here.

The one this guy sells has gotten good reviews:

Site closed. Health issues. Been a long run. More than ever expected. Thanks guys!!! I am having trouble getting refunds through. Everyone will get paid. PayPal used to be so simple. Effective Jan 4, JMT will cease to be a hobby business. What's this mean to you? Well, for starters, likely...

Those only work on a very flat side slide. A XD9 slide would roll in that unless you made some perfectly fitting shim pieces.

Most pushers are junk. Unless you spend the big $$ for the good one: prepare to spend $300 - $400. Barring that kind of expenditure, *nothing* beats a hammer, vice, and brass punch set. I have seen some real fubar jobs and damage done with plenty of janky pushers.

I own nearly 30 Glocks, every single one of them with night sights that I installed using nylon or brass punches, without so much as a scuff. There is no way, no how I would invest any money in a sight pusher for a Glock. But if I did, I would not spend one penny less than the money needed for a MGW Pro.

So OP, MGW Pro or bust.

The XD9 has a very flat slide. The XDm, not so much, but the original XD design is very amenable to using with a site pusher.

Manufacturer-specific pushers are not $300-400. They are $125-150. The MGW XD and Glock pushers are very effective (but on the XD, only if the sites show a tendency to budge and are not hydraulically pressed into place). Pushers usually only get expensive if they are multi-manufacturer models. This is why I posted the link that I did. I've read some very good stuff about the effectiveness of the JMT pusher.

I love my MGW Glock pusher.
I tried to pick up one of their pushers for my Shield last year. Everyone was on backorder, found an Amazon dealer who had one.
They shipped it, USPS lost it in transit.
They offered to refund as the one I bought was the last one in stock and they did not have an ETA from MGW.

I told them to hang tight and ship when they received it.
3 months later, I got a call from a very apologetic business owner who said that they were no longer available and he was issuing a refund.

There still seems to be plenty of remaining stock on the more popular models, but when I tried to pull up MGW's web site, all I could find seemed to be focused on racing shifters.
Their only sight pusher references are on Facebook.

I do it caveman style. Yah, really.

I have about a three foot long dowel with a shaved/shaped end for gently resting against the sight, and a fender washer under a plastic cap, covered in racin' tape (duct tape for educated people) on the striking end.

My vise has rubber/delron protective jaws and doubled up cotton baby's diaper to hold the victim as I beat it.

Works great on everything I've used and haven't marred any finishes yet.

No you asked quite clearly for a hammer and punch set, but if you want to throw good money away on a wizzbang gizmo be my guest. I've driven sights with a hammer and punch for 30 years and never marred one yet. for $150 you can have a set up that will work on pistols, rifles, Revolvers and anything else. but if you want to spend your time fiddling with a gizmo that was not made to hold your slide perfectly, Be my guest. Have a good day.

Thanks to everyone who recommended site pushers!

A special thank you to those who PMed me with your experiences, it's sad they had to PM to avoid trolling.

I've purchased a site pusher and will report back once I've used it a few times.

You can order delron to fill in the side of the XD to make it flat beware XD sights are notoriously hard to get.
Glocks are quick. Local shops charge $25 to change sights on glocks. $85 on the xd.
Leaving the xd slide in the freezer over night before trying helps save the sight.

You ain't kidding. I have a buddy who actually uses liquid nitrogen to freeze the factory sights and then he shatters them to get them out. Once out, the after-market sights have no problem going in, but a LOT of XDs have problems getting those factory sights out (even with a pusher).

From what I have been advised by several gunsmiths, the XD slides are heated up to allow the oversized, OEM sights to be placed then the slides cool, contracting on the sights. Some smiths will refuse sight jobs on XD's due to this.

This is of course hearsay as I do not have direct experience with XD's.

wouldn't putting a slide in the freezer cause it to contract, thus making it harder to install?

I've always heated metals up to loosen bolts
