    Polymer 80 PF940V2 Question

    I don't know if this issue is a all significant, but I noticed it so I'll comment about it here.

    With the pistol in battery I noticed that if I push down on the rear of the barrel (i.e., the chamber), it moves downward 0.040" to 0.050" or something like that.

    When I do the same thing to the PF940V1.5 (or whatever it is) or the PF940C, there is hardly any noticeable movement at all; at most a few thousandths.

    This vertical movement is apparently the result of clearance between the flat surface at the rear of the barrel and the flat upper surface of the locking block wedge which sits beneath it.

    I don't know if this clearance will cause any kind of problem, but the fact that it differs significantly from the the other two models makes me wonder.

    Did you do anything to the locking block or the barrel when fitting? When in battery the barrel should definitely be pushed up by the locking block and not be able to move down ward until the slide moves back.

      The only thing I did was remove about 0.010" from the outside of each rear leg of the locking block. (And btw the slide and barrel are Glock factory parts).

      There's definitely some significant clearance between the barrel and locking block with this PF940V2 frame compared to my PF940C and PF940V1.5. In fact when I push the chamber down with my thumb, the slide moves slightly to the rear...maybe 0.010" to 0.015" or something like that.

        Unless Polymer 80 made a change to the locking block, they're probably all the same.

        I don't think I like it this way. It may never cause a problem, but it seems like a design weakness.

          Can you post pictures of your locking block in the frame? And just for kicks and giggles the orientation of the take down lever?

            Why would you post this here instead of contacting P80? It is there frame and their locking block. They would know better than anyone if this is normal or cause for concern. They are the only ones who can fix it if there is an actual defect with the product.

              A little bit of play downwards is normal, I'm not sure on the 0.04-0.05 but on all of the Gen3 OEM glocks that I own, they have some tolerance. Not enough for the slide to get even close to being out of battery, but some. Video at 2:25 here is pretty consistent with the slop I have.

                Because I'll post it wherever I feel like posting it, that's why. And I may or may not also contact P80, at my discretion; if that's okay with you.                 In your unfounded opinion, that is. But it's not just a matter of whether they "know" or not; rather, it's also a matter of whether they'd be willing to admit it, if it's a sub-optimal situation. (BTW, if you'll recall, they refused to publicly admit that the trigger housing pocket in the earlier version was too big, even after it became an indisputable, generally accepted fact).

                They are the only ones who can fix it if there is an actual defect with the product.
                Do you have anything meaningful to add to the discussion?

                  Thanks for the link to that video. Mine seems worse than that one (although after looking at this pistol again, I think it's probably in the range of 0.030" to 0.040", not 0.040" to 0.050" as I originally stated).

                  The disturbing thing here is the drastic difference in the play between this PF940V2 and the three other P80 frames I have.
