M14 SEI Mount Installation

I originally posted this in the Rifleman's Forum and got one response, hopefully some more responses here.

I am installing a Smith Enterprise Scope Mount on my Poly M14 and the dovetail key is quite snug in the receiver dovetail. The instructions from SEI say that the key should move freely in the receiver dovetail and am wondering if its necessary to have the key filed down, and if so how exactly is it supposed to fit in the receiver slot. Could a tight fit lead to warping of the mount or receiver?
