Epoxy is probably your best bet.

I believe it is important to give the back side of the medallion some 'tooth' as it's called. Whatever method you can think of to make the surface more likely to grip the epoxy; filing, sanding, gouging, you get the idea. I've been thinking of doing something on a rifle stock with a coin or medallion.If you can't explain it simply you don't understand it well enough. Albert EinsteinComment
