I was going to suggest a piece of 50bmg brass and some hammer time but I didn't realize that you want to stick your foot in there.

    1 1/2" x 8" WTH?
    It's not PTSD, it's nostalgia.

How about a brass pipe nipple from HomeDepot?

I only had a couple minutes at work to throw out the question.
Basically I'm looking to replicate a Rossi 62 trigger guard and tang.

Go dig in the remnant pile at any metal yard.
Remnant pricing per pound is lower than full length pricing per pound.

Online Metals? They have everything else, and deal with small quantities.
Hobby shop if you have one nearby.
