Anyone mod 9mm AR mag release

Has anyone modded their 9mm AR mag releases to function like Patriot mag release or AR Maglock? There are so many brands (QC10, New Frontier, etc.) for any manufacturer to make a new 2017 magazine release lock. I was thinking has anyone taken theirs off and welded or got custom welded to function like an AR maglock/patriot style magazine lock (e.g. bar that pushes against the upper preventing the mag release from being pushed inward and releasing the magazine and thus being 2017 CA compliant). An other option for the QC10 crowd is modding the "ODIN WORKS XGMR2 QC10 EXTENDED GLOCK MAG RELEASE". Any help appreciated!

You must be talking about one of the nonstandard lowers that uses glock pistol mags because standard 9mm AR stick mags all use the standard 5.56 magazine catch and magazine release parts.

I have converted a glock mag pistol AR lower to be a fixed mag setup by replacing the spring with a solid spacer and changed out the mag catch retaining pin to a stepped solid pin that makes it quick-change between a detachable mag catch and a fixed mag so that the user can switch over the lower when he leaves the state and then switch it back before he comes back into the state.

Yep. That's what I'm talking about. For the non-standard type 9mm ar lowers. The one shown would be stronger than a home made bracket welded to the existing mag release since it was made from one piece of aluminum.

Has anyone taken an existing mag release and welded on homemade bracket? Dunno if Quarter Circle would ever make one for CA like the new frontier one.

It's all hidden inside the lower.
