Sig P226 LCI Modification?

Quick question. I'll be looking at getting a new P226. I'm looking at modifying the LCI to be more low profile. Can the lower tab below the red be ground down to achieve this, I'd likely paint the entire thing black.

FWIW, I know you can break the vertical tab off completely and the LCI won't lift up at all during normal operation. It happened to one of my P226s.

You can modify virtually any part of it since its non essential to the functioning of the gun. I actually removed mine because i want the ability to drop a round in the chamber and close the slide on it. With the LCI, you can't do this.

If you remove it, it works just fine...
