    Building a Yugo M64 UnderFolder

Since all parts for AR build dried up, I am now interested in building a AK just to pass the time. I saw this kit on APEX (https://www.apexgunparts.com/product...roducts_id/820), and was wondering if this kit is complete except the receiver. If the only missing part is the receiver, where can I buy one (preferably milled). If there are more parts missing, how hard is it to track down. Thank you!

I found milled receivers for these but, I bookmarked it on my home computer. I think they were about $379 each!

Although they come with all the parts, you will have to play the 922(r) game and buy some US made parts too!

hmm... Can you please send me the link for it?

Any idea how hard would it be to assemble one? Thanks!

I recomend against the milled receiver for a first build. Spend the extra $50 for a Romy kit and buy an NDS3. My 2c.

i built one of these kits, i did a weld flat and welded it to what was left of the receiver and had milled the existing part into a trunnion and counted it as trunnion foreign made, just had to replace different things.
didnt have to remove the barrel or anything went together super easy and fast
also had to get a barel extension to keep the underfolding stock.

honestly it was super easy, just take a die grinder and a cut off wheel and grind down the remaining receiver to thickeness of inside diameter of your flat once its bent to spec etc etc. and i drilled two extra holes .25 inch where it bulges and welded there too so 4 welds per side, and did much the same for the rear trunnion. all you need to do is align the receiver on the front end assembly, tack weld it on 1 weld per side and check to see that the bolt assembly works fine, then weld it up, viola 90% of the hard work is done, sand down the welds, engrave your serials, and then reinstall the rest, actually on that build i welded everything, i drilled out the front rivets on the trigger guard etc but left it on the back piece and just welded it on, i wasn't really interested in maintaining the riveted look, welded the cross member in place as well. get your panda lock barrel extension and 922r parts and your done.

                    save6e,

So, what flat or commercial sheet metal receiver works best? Does the underfolder macth up to the bent receiver or does it need to be modified? How about all the FCG?

im not sure what you are asking as far as fitting the receiver, i just got a yugo underfolding flat from ftfindustries for somewhere around $30, bent it, then ground down the existing receiver, then marker how far back the receivers rails went, then dry fitted my rails, marked where the receiver rails where, cut the new rails, tac welded them in, then welded up the existing receiver, to my new receiver. only thing you have to know, is that the non-forged yugo's trunnions have that bulge at the top and your flat will have that same bulge, i drilled holes there and welded it there and at the end welded it so you would never know there is dead space back there. i have a buddy coming to visit to do one in a few weeks, perhaps i will take pictures and make a tutorial.

That's kind of cool, but then it doesn't look like a milled AK. Just go buy a Romy and save the trouble...

keep in mind that your kit has a threaded barrel and if you buy another milled receiver than you will have to worry about headspace not working out so well which could be a pain in the ***, that said i just did previous idea
