Bp percussion jigs

Was talking to a buddy who had heard they sell jigs for making parts for black powder percussion pistols.

Was wondering where one might find them. I looked online and couldn't find any.

Would love to build one outta some Damascus and figured maple.

Single shot side lock or percuss'ed revolver?
I used to make a drilling guide for lock nails, tang bolts and barrel cross pins, but there is no jig for internals...? Unless you are building a Siler or other lock kit.

If you are talking about inletting the lock into the stock, then most do it with chisels and gouges. I make good use of a Dremel with a router attachment and a 1/8" or 3/16" router bit as well as chisels and gouges.

I was looking to do both single shot side locks and percussion revolvers. I know the internals on a jig can be made to fit perfectly.

Inletting I was going to do with my wood working chisels and gouges.

TotW has a Percussion Drum jig to locate the Nipple.

Siler Lock kits are relatively easy to assemble and a good staring point for a novice; included are a nylon bushing to locate and drill the bridle's tumbler shaft hole and a nylon post to locate one of the bridle's screws so the part is positioned properly and allow the tumbler to rotate without binding. Complete instructions are included with every kit.

I'm not aware of Percussion Revolver Kits being offered since the late 70s or early 80s, but they only required minor fitting and polishing of the internals.

If I recall it was for the lock geometry. Clamped between two peices of hardened steel could be moved around in the jig in different stations within the plates. I can't find the video my buddy showed me while we were talking about it tonight. I don't see anything similar on any of the sites recommended. It was interesting and I was thinking of doing it outta Damascus. Think it be a fun project.

Sounds like something that is probably a user made jig if one is assembling lots of lock. I use a block of Maple inletted to allow positioning for drilling - most lock kits are cast with dimples spotted for the screws.
