Gunsmith needed for an M1 Garand

I'm located in the San Fernando valley, socal and i'm looking for a smith that's either good with wwII rifles, M1/M14 style receivers, or is just overall reputable.

My M1 Garand is light striking, failure to fire on almost every round, and when it does fire it ejects the whole en-bloc and unspent cartridges in the magazine. When I got it I had to replace the op-rod and mainspring because they were thrashed so I suspect more parts are worn out. I think the light striking is due to a worn firing pin spring or a shoddy firing pin and the premature ejection to a clip latch spring, but i'm not confident in my ability to diagnose and repair such symptoms. The gas-block settings could play a part too but as I said I am unsure of what is wrong with the rifle.

I'm looking for a good smith that can properly diagnose the problem, as I only have an estimated guess as to what is wrong with it.

Replace the clip latch, clip latch spring, hammer spring and firing pin and that should solve all of your problems at a fraction of the cost to maybe have a gunsmith fix it, unless your bolt is too short and your problem is excessive headspace.

Alright, i'll give that a shot. Head-space should be fine since it worked fine for the first 2 or so range trips.

Definitely sounds like worn out hammer spring and a bad clip latch. I doubt the firing pin is worn since those are hardened steel. These are parts that do eventually wear down, they are 60 plus years old after all. You should be able to get these parts for less than 30 dollars. Your gas plug, whether adjustable or not wouldn't have any effect on the issues you're experiencing.

If you cycle the action hard by hand, does your clip eject? Or does it have trouble catching when you insert the clip to load?

"working fine" does NOT mean that the headspace is right.
Rifles can "work fine" and still be unsafely out of spec.
