By the way, those lightening cuts at the nose of the slide are called "stirrup cuts".

That's awesome and reassuring. I'll wait until the end of the week to see what happens. If the one I want comes back in stock at the price showed, I'll get it in a Heart beat. They really seem like a hidden gem. Wish I knew about them for my previous build.

Yes, thank you. But I have seen people refer to them by many different names.

Mosin, since I have you here, I need to ask you a slightly off topic question.

Your parkerizing video, do you have a recommended home parkerizing kit?

I have only tried one and it wasn't a kit. Lauer manganese park solution. It worked beautifully. I also have the pre-parkerizing blackener that I haven't tried using yet but hoping to in the next attempt.

I still have the ready solution from the first time, and will make more to double up in volume. Then, I will simply maintain the water level.

            Here is what I got:

            16 Oz. Lauer Manganese solution - $12.99

16 Oz. Lauer Parkerizing Post-Treatment Water displacing oil - $13.99

            12 Oz. Atomized Steel - $24.99
Used only half of tea spoon.

            Black Iron Wire - $5.99

And like I said, I got the blackener, but haven't used it yet
            Lauer Black Dip Parkerizing Pre-Treatment - $15.49

Also got a Spice or Herb Infuser (look on Amazon) to put all the small parts into to dunk into the bath at once.

You saw pretty much all of this stuff in the video. The expensive bluing thermometer from Brownells didn't work, so I used a Glass candy thermometer (it handles high temps)

            Stainless Steel pot, etc...

Oh, and I had some surgical tubing around from when I was bedding the stock for the Ishapore 2a1 restoration... the tubing comes in handy to syphon off the clear solution once you are done parking and the sludge settles at the bottom. You want to leave the sludge in the pot to clean out later. I keep the clear solution in the same jug the distilled water came in.

Here it is on my 1911 builders 2011 frame. Very nice fit and finish for only $140.

Yup that's the same one I got from them directly, in stainless.

MV, I was talking about the ball stirrup cut. Still wondering if the live-round-extraction cut is really needed for the ejection port, but that should be simple enough to do on your mini-mill.

Oh yeah, that looks great. I'm looking forward to checking out the site later in the week to see it in stock.

Way to crush my dreams, man. Just kidding.

Like anything, this would obviously take time to get good at. I don't expect I would be able to get much done right away. But welding has always been on my "to learn" list.

I haven't even begun to scrape the surface of all aspects of material removal, but believe material addition should be there too.
