    6.5 Creedmoor Build question

I decided to build a 6.5 Creedmoor AR10 to have a distance shooter. and has a question about the buffer, buffer tube and spring while using a rifle length gas system.

Using a rifle length system can I:

    A mil-spec carbine buffer tube
    308 Buffer
    308 Carbine spring

I was hoping some one could clarify for me before I purchase these parts.

Thank you for your any advice

Yes you can but what BCG are you going to use? The 6.5 creates a lot of pressure and you need to slow down the BCG so that it doesn't damage the gun. I would recommend going with that JP captive buffer and the JP full mass carrier with a high pressure bolt. A little extra money on the front end, but the gun will last a long time and will cycle correctly.

How long is the 308 carbine buffer you are looking at?
308's need more bolt carrier travel than 5.56's so the buffer tube needs to be longer to use a full length buffer or the buffer needs to be shorter to fit in a standard length buffer tube.

Adjustable gas block from JP be cheaper than the JP captive buffer and the JP full mass carrier with a high pressure bolt.

I was looking at a 308 specific tube at Optic Planet "GUNTEC USA AR-10 Mil-Spec Buffer Tube Set,.308" But it doesn't list the length of the tube itself

To be safe I may go with the POF 7 position anti tilt tube that is used on on the P308's

                Thanks Gawker,

Are you saying use the adjustable gas block in place of the JP items (which are pretty pricey). Just adjust the gas down as needed?

You will need a adjustable gas block as well. I highly recommend the SLR Sentry 8. I've built dozens of 6.5 creedmoor AR platforms and have been down this road. Trust me.

I use the JP LMOS 308 buffer in my 6.5CM AR10, and it works fine with gas and buffer tuning.
