    Sterling smg build

I want to build a sterling clone.
I found tubes online but, I want to be legal
I know that my sten tube is a smaller inside diameter than the original. I'm not finding a semi auto tube for the sterling. From what I can find online they came from the factory in semi auto for British local police. Dose this mean I can buy am expensive semi auto bolt and I'm set?
I want a functioning storm trooper blaster.
I have built a sten dumby gun I can do this on the sterling but, where is the fun in that.

Not sure I totally understand the question, but you don't have to use a smaller diameter tube necessarily. You can always go with a blocking bar/denial pin installed in a regular receiver, with a corresponding slot cut into the bolt... The same way guys are doing the Suomi re-welds, Uzi builds, etc...

You said you already found some tubes?
But I don't come 'round here to meet nice people anyway

MKVI kit if you can find one, it's the semi version. If not then you'll get another version and you'll convert your bolt to semi or buy one already modified. Same thing for the FCG, it'll need to be modified, some guys go striker others use a hammer. You can buy a tube with a template from several places, but you can also just make your own with the right sized tube stock. 16" barrel unless you can figure out a SSE. Dont forget about the 922r.

All the mods are easy if you have the right tools.

The real son-a-b**** when building one of these one-offs here in Cali is getting the magazines, finding somebody to pin them for you...

Just something else to think about...

many years ago someone on uzitalk ( edit ) built a sterling that used a semi auto 16 inch uzi barrel. iirc he shortened the tube and the stock to make it work, not sure if it was needed or not. might be worth digging around there to find the info.

just looked on homegunsmith and the search showed nothing and i realized it was uzitalk.
