    Ak74 FSB for Vepr?

I have a Vepr FM-AK74-11 and would like to put a traditional style AK74 muzzle brake on it.

I'd prefer not to use a thread adapter and was wondering if I could get a standard AK74 FSB (with the 24mm threaded front portion), ream it out to fit the larger diameter of my barrel and then pin it back on my barrel.

Would the mounting pins be likely to line up or are there over sized pins available?

    Thanks for any help!

You have a better chance of hitting the lottery than the pin holes lining up.

and i'm not so sure you'll have enough material on the FSb to ream to your barrel.

Not going to work. There is not enough material in the FSB to allow you to "ream" it out. You could have the barrel turned down if you really wanted to make the switch.
      Poke'm with a stick!

I was afraid that the standard AK74 FSB would not have enough thickness - thanks for confirming this since I do not have access to one in person!

I had thought about turning the barrel down as an option but I presume I would have to press the barrel out of the front trunion first and I don't want to go to that much work.

I'm mainly interested in having the appearance of the AK74 brake. I had hoped to get an "original" one and I also liked the idea of having a FSB with a bayonet lug and cleaning rod holder.

However, at this point, unless anyone has any other ideas, I guess I'll pick up one of the aftermarket ones that are threaded to 14 mm LH and just screw that on since I'm presuming that would make for be a more secure fit than using a thread adapter.

Thanks again for the quick replies and helpful information!

I have the same rifle, the best bet for the cost is the Tapco since it can go directly on.
Wish I could change out the whole FSB like my other 74's
