Loctite to secure barrel thread protector?

I'm replacing the flash hider on an AR barrel with a thread protector. There's no where on it to put a wrench. Can I use blue Loctite and then tighten by hand? Will the Loctite loosen when the barrel gets hot? I could probably also wrap a piece of leather around it and tighten with pliers. I just don't want to bugger it up.

I used a Crush washer with thread protector on my featureless build . Is the thread protector knurled? Wrap it with a few wraps of painters tape and snug it with some pliers.

You need a bubba wrench. easy peasy to make.

Measure the diameter of the TP. Buy a drill bit in that size.

Grab a 1x2. I strongly suggest hardwood. You can get oak at home depot for a couple bucks. 12" long is enough.

Drill a hole 1" from the end. then use a hand saw to slit the end into the hole.

Drill a small hole for a 1/4" bolt or a 10-32 bolt in the end of the 1x2. This will close up the slit you cut and make the hole you drilled shrink in size.

Slip your new wrench over the TP, tighten the bolt to lock the wrench on, and tighten the thread protector 10 degrees. It won't go anywhere. If anything, use anti-sieze or a tiny drop of oil, not loctite.

You can use this tip for any muzzle device. You can even use it for barrels, if you add some rosin for extra security. I've even used this tip for swaging ruger revolver cylinders, etc. Anything round that needs a ton of torque and you don't want to mar a finished surface.

if you are going to use loktite please use 222 Purple not blue.

it's lower strength and can be removed with hand tools. that or Rocket set.
that said I've needed a muzzle break or thread protector tightened any more then a good heavy hand tight.
