    Wheatland Gunsmith

Anyone have any experience with Dave's Gunsmithing in Wheatland. I will be calling him soon to see if he will work on my 1911, but thought I would check in with the forum to see if anyone had any prior experiences.

    Thanks

I live in Wheatland. Although I have no experience with his work, it seems very hard to get a hold of him. The gunsmith thing is a part time job for him and is only open from 7-9pm tues-fri and 9-5 on sat. Although I have tried to stop in on saturdays around 10 and he is not open. Not trying to bash the guy but, like I said he is just hard to get a hold of.

Thanks for the comment, and I do not accept them as bashing. I sent him an e-mail from his ad in the Wheatland Citizen and it bounced back to me as "no such user" from the ISP.

I will try calling once or twice this coming week.

Just for informational purposes, I tired to have him do some work for me way back in the 80's or early 90's, and had alot of trouble trying to get in touch with him, when i finaly did, my first question was, whats it going to be like to pick up my pistol once its done, he laughed and said, he gets side tracked alot, but promised me he would not sell it on me, I decided to go elsewhere.
But again that was years ago.

Kevin is the best gun guy I've found anywhere, for both selling and repairing. HIGHLY recommended.

Used to go through there on my way to camp far west to waste ammo.

That little diner/drive in place in Wheatland ROCKS!

I submit to you, in all seriousness, that they make the best hot dogs in CA.

sounds like you got it sorted but, I have another in Grass Valley that comes highly recommended from a reliable source, Jack Huntington www.jrhgunmaker.com

If you mean the one at the south end of town, I used to go there 100 years ago when I was in high school. Was surprised to see it still open when I went through town for the first time in 25 years or so last month.

As a hot dog gourmet, I have to stop and try it out now.

Not to hijack my own thread, but the best dogs I ever had were at the old Weinery in East Sacramento followed by Sacs dogs in Vallejo (the ONLY thing I miss about Vallejo).

I think the only thing better than a 1911 in each hand is a hot dog in each hand.

Are they street tacos or crispy tacos? I haven't found decent tacos since I moved back to this area.

Now this makes two places in Wheatland I have to check out.
