Not sure what to do here? lower problem

Hello Fellow calgunners i ran into a problem when started building a new lower reciever. i was installing a set of Battle-Arms Development enhanced pivot pins and ran into a problem. the hole near where the rear pivot spring & detent go is not big enough to accept the spring and detent, the lower is a spikes tactical meanstreak lower that was brand new, the springs in the kit arent the problem because they fit fine into my aero precision and other company springs & detents (including spikes) wouldnt fit. no response from spikes yet so i thought i would see what other calgunners would recommend i do. That hole is marked with a thread type, so I assume it is tapped for a set screw? The fix for this is normally to chase the hole with a #40 drill, I use a pin vise and do it by hand. But you may sacrifice the threads to fix it. You could always chase the threads again with a 4-40 tap after you chase the hole. Be sure to blow out the chips when you are done. Also be sure to lube the hole before you start and that your drill bit is chucked tight into the pin vise.

There could be metal chips, burrs, finish build up or who knows what in the hole left over from machining - so I always chase the holes no matter what before I start assembly.

It's hard to tell if that's just the shadow or the set screw deep in the hole, so I have to ask. Did you remove the set screw from the hole?

You can pickup a tap at Ace Hardware. 4-40 is a standard size.

I'm in El Cajon and have a 4-40 tap + a hex wrench, If the set screw is in the hole.

I do that mod to all my lowers.

Also don't forget that if you plan to use a set screw, shorten the spring by the length of the set screw.

i havent done anything to the lower. my first aeroprecision build i didnt need to do anything to the lower, new to building so im not quite sure.
