Muzzle device required for bull barrel?

Ok, I've done a search and I can't find an answer, so here goes...

Bull barrel - is there a requirement in the new laws to have a muzzle device appended to it, and if so, how would it be attached?

There's no threading at the business end of the barrel, so

    1) it can't be attached and is therefore not required to have one

    2) it can't be attached and therefore must be cut back to allow threading sufficient to attach a device

    3) it's illegal and must be removed

A muzzle device is not required on any weapon and there are a lot of standard barreled guns as well as bull barreled guns that have no muzzle device. If you want one you can put one on but for semi auto detachable mag rifles that would be a feature.

Only if it's a flash hider. Muzzle brakes are exempt

And it would be nice to know if the OP was talking hand guns or long guns,

Semi Auto Handguns are illegal with threaded barrels,

Semi Auto Rifles with the ability to accept a detachable magazine can not have a flash hide, but a brake is legal

As to how to mound a brake on a unthreaded barrel, you pay someone to thread it, and mount your brake, If by chance you desire the overall length to be 16" on a rifle with a brake attached, you need to blind pin and weld the brake in place.

Kcstott thank you for the correction, I should have said maybe a feature. With a question like this

"Bull barrel - is there a requirement in the new laws to have a muzzle device appended to it, and if so, how would it be attached?"

You never know if they are using a true muzzle break or if they are incorrectly referring to a flash suppressor as a muzzle break. It is disheartening to see how many people do not know the difference.

But this is the case that we saw in another thread of someone looking for a law to tell them what they can do and not understanding that the law tells you what you CAN NOT do.

There are no laws requiring a muzzle device. A flash hider is one of the evil feature requiring "AW" registration of semi auto long guns with tool detachable magazines. A barrel with no muzzle device or brake does not have an evil feature. So a bull barrel of 16" or greater, with no muzzle device is completely legal. However if it's part of a semi auto that has other evil features, you'll have to register it as an AW in 2017
If you find yourself in a fair fight, you're doing it all wrong.
