TM 80% 1911 frames....has quality improved?

I've been contemplating the Tactical Machining 80% 1911 frames. Wondering if the quality has improved? Do they fit the matrix jigs? Is there enough meat on the front strap for checkering? Appreciate any insight. thanks

While I have no real idea about your first question, I will answer it and the others like this:

Don't know and wouldn't want to go through the trouble to find out. But there are some hard core TM fans here that may be able to answer. Personally I would like to see some sort of announcement addressing the past issues and whether they are all now a thing of the past.

Yes, they will fit Matrix Rail cutting jig and should fit the hole drilling /decking jig.

And yes, there was plenty thickness on the front strap for checkering.

I can see the price is even lower than before. Which, if the quality is now there as well, would be an amazing way to get people back into the product.

I have built numerous Blemished ones and didn't find anything wrong with the exception of one had a bad thread on the grip screw bushing holes, which was fixed with an oversized bushing. If you take your time and read the Blueprints I don't think anyone would have any problems building them. But then I have Milled them out and finished them from 0% castings.

Compared to what is being offered and the price point it's no comparison. TM are good and cheap but require more finishing, others are near done and twice the price, So it's save time, or save money, not both.

There is one company Modulus. That will never get a dime of my money.

Guy came in here years ago like a Used car salesman. pushing, plugging, and spamming up the place. That ain't how you do business.

My buddy had a 2011 race gun in 38 super. I really liked it. Want to build my own.

I've used them and like em BUT....they don't excel in the fit and finish department. ...you better know 1911s....for instance on current build a tiny lip of metal left in trigger channel preventing trigger being seated correctly. ....filed down front of trigger bow and all is well...but if your new to this you would probably never work that out

I work off of service manuals, Kuhnhausen's books and just plain figuring things out. I'm the wrong guy to ask for where this or that link is to hold your hand through a build.

In addition to the aforementioned set of Kuhnhausen books, Kuleck and Oldham wrote a very nice and easy to read book on the 1911. It's not focused on the 2011 but similar enough to learn a lot.
I've read so many books on the subject and these 3 come highly recommended.
