    Milled yugo m70/m72 Frankenbuild

Milled yugo m72 fixed stock receiver from tortort with a m70 underfolder kit from Apex. Here are some pics of the build so far.

    Kit and receiver as shipped.

Web cut to start filing to shape the ejector. Cut with dremmel

    Ejector fit to bolt.

Trigger slot marked and ready for drilling/cutting. I'm using a double hook G2 trigger (3 922r parts). Used a 80 flat to mark the trigger slot outline.

Used a 5/32 drill to drill the four corners. Then cut with dremmel wheel and filed to fit the trigger.

Then used the ak builder drilling fixture to drill the trigger, hammer and safety holes. Taped up the center support hole as it's not used on a milled receiver. Also had to push out the pin on the jig as milled receivers done have the divet there. Used some punches to align jig using the trigger guard river holes that are also drilled out on jig. Filed the two safety holes and blended them together.

Trigger, hammer and safety fit and function checks out.

Will be making an appointment with Randall soon to populate the barrel and press it into receiver to headspace.

Ended up doing the populating and heqdspacing myself. Browned the barrel. And cerakoted the receiver, dust cover and some of the other small bits.

Barrel pressed and headspaced with go gauge

    No go gauge

Barrel pin drilled and reamed. Headspace still good

Rear sight base on (pinned after pic). That's anti seize around the barrel pin

I drilled the gas port on the small side too so I can step is needed for reliable cycling and not have unnecessary felt recoil. Doesn't look like I'll be able to test this weekend so hopefully next weekend. Attero mount came in so I mounted that along with holosun and bore sighted it.

Thanks. It's was a great build and enjoyed doing it all myself as I learned a ton. Pressed the barrel and all the barrel parts using a pipe clamp and another piece of pipe with a brass connector. Worked great once I sanded a little off the gas block and front sight portions on the barrel. Barrel to receiver and rear sight to barrel figment was spot on already. Of course had to re-brown the barrel around the sanded areas after populating the barrel. Probably would have been a lot easier with a press but used what I had and made it work. I'm still going to take it to a competent smith to check it out before I fire it. Want to make sure the bolt is locking up properly as some people have had to reshape the bolt lugs to get good lock up and that's not something I know enough about yet
