    Contoring/Dremilling Spectre Polymer Grips?

I'm on my second Spectre (v1.1), my first one broke, and it was stippled perfectly by someone who (unfortunately) does not do that any more.

I decided to try and match it and I was able to figure out how to use the Dremil sander to re-contor it, but I can't get a smooth finish.

I tried using fine sand paper and oil, but it is still kind of rough and lighter in color (see pics)

Any tips to make it smoother and for the color to match? I did not get to stippling it, as I don't think I can do that yet.

I basically re-contored the back of the grip that was too big for my hand and also under the trigger guard.

220-b grit. I did try the buffing wheel at low speed but it didn't seem to do much. Didn't try shoe polish though.

220 is rough, as stated work your way into the higher grits (you can readily get up to 2000 in local stores). As for color I have matched plastic color with heat to slightly melt the plastic, BUT I have never worked on a plastic gun so I do not know how that material will react to heat or if you will structurally damage the plastic.

Feather the sanded areas lighty with a torch or heat gun.
The goal is to just re-melt the very skin of the surface to make the sanding marks dissappear and the shiny finish to come back from the last time the plastic was melted when it was injection molded.

The key is NOT to stay in one place with the heat as you will melt much deeper than just the skin.

He probably dropped it on carpet.

Heat, work your way through higher grits, and use rubbing compound on the buffer wheel. Polishing takes time.

Rear rail and trigger housing pocket cracked after about 3000 rounds.

                  * correction 800 grit sand paper (the paper was in the wrong box).

Ok I'll try the buffer wheel some more, I really don't want to heat and risk deforming the area near the trigger housing. V1.0's trigger housing pocket seemed really delicate.

It was a free replacement. :/
