    AR 10 FTE... Over gassed??

Can't make it through a magazine without a FTE. Casing does a 180 in the chamber and gets jammed. Any suggestions?

Check you extractor. Overgassing wont do that.

your undergassed. check your gas block for alignment to gas port.

**** my bad, if under gassed the case won't flip around.

Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

Over gassed was the verdict in this thread

Extractor is jumping the case head, then the case is blown out of the chamber into the action where it flips around when the next round is being fed.

Install adjustable gas block and reduce the gas until it will NOT lock back after firing the single round from the magazine.
Then slightly increase the gas again until it WILL lock back after loading and firing the single round from the magazine.

Would installing a stronger extractor spring or adding a o ring to the existing spring help?

I will be ordering an adjustable gas block today as well.

It may. The thread I quoted implies that the BCG is being driven back with such force, the extractor either cannot get a good grip, or it is being ripped off (look for missing bits of brass).
The root cause suggested is over gassing, so every thing else is a workaround.
AR15barrels is the guru, I am just repeating what I took away from the description.

                No.

If the gun is so over gassed that the bolt is leaving the case in the chamber. no amount of extra spring tension is going to fix it.

you need lighter loads, or a adjustable gas block. it's that simple.

                  10-4

Thank you everyone for your help. I will update once I install the adjustable gas block.

Increasing extractor tension is a patch that helps some guns, but it's not a cure to the real problem.
