suggestions for solvent to remove lapping compound

I just fitted my slide to my aluminum frame. I need to remove the extra compound. Brake clean dries before i can wipe it. I have read lacquer thinner or acetone would work. true or not? will either cause damage to my aluminum frame? Thanks

Wipe off the bulk of it with a paper towel.
Blast out the remainder with pressurized brake cleaner and dry with pressurized air.
If you do not have the straw installed on your spray brake cleaner nozzle, you are not going to get good pressure to work with.

This is what I did and it worked fine. I did go one step further and take some bore cleaner and a toothbrush to it afterwards just to be sure I got everything clean.
