XDS-help Grip Safety not working after trigger kit install

    Help!

    Please.

Installed the PRP Trigger kit on my XDs (post recall). Grip saftey no longer works.

I have looked at their instructions, and 5 other videos on youtube, and am convinced I had the Grip Safety Spring set correctly between the Spring Safety Spring and with the little foot of the grip safety between the Sear and the Grip Safety Spring correctly. Their instructions have very good pictures that are not easily found in the youtube videos.

The initial problem was that once you fired the XDS, the grip safety would become permanently engaged, it wouldn't reset. I took it apart 8-10 times trying to get Grip safety set and to function correctly.

In trouble shooting I switched back to the XDS Stock Grip Safety Spring, its a bit more springy, thought maybe the new one provided with the kit was not strong enough.

The last time I have taken it apart, I switched the direction of the sear spring. Maybe I had the "S" going in the wrong direction. This seemed to have helped because now, the grip safety works half the time. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. I will dry fire and it will become temporarily engaged (ie stuck) and I have to lock the slide back to reset it.

This never happened prior to the install, so I don't think its normal. Has anyone had this problem and can direct me to the issue?

    Please.

    Thank you

if i remember correctly the sear spring doesn't have any issue with the reset.

When i installed the spring kit in my XDs9 the grip safety spring was the biggest pain in the *** because it needs to be placed in a specific position.

the leg that makes contact with the grip safety itself needs to be flipped up with a punch or something thin, then immediately press the grip safety in and retain the whole assembly while you install the locking block back into the frame.

    here is a reference diagram:

I detail stripped my XDS once - grip safety was a PITA to get re-installed again. From the link above...

Yes, I definately messed up the grip safety spring. I would have bet a brick of 22s every video and pic I saw, had the grip safety spring "hooked" onto the swing arm of the grip safety. I was wrong, and I would have been out $50.

The little "hook" looking end on the grip safety spring is not a hook, it is a "foot" that just rests on the grip safety. The swing arm and the grip safety spring should not be touching.

Thank you! PRP did a great job getting back to me if anyone was interested in the customer service. And I can definitely feel the difference in a dry fire. I get to go to the range today and live fire. Ooooooh Yeah!

might i suggest keeping the stock firing pin spring?

myself and many others on the XD forums have noticed light primer strikes with the reduced power of that striker spring. if you plan on carrying this, that would be a big concern.

I did the PRP kit in mine, but left the stock FP spring.

I also put the stock grip safety spring back in, I didn't like the looseness of the reduced power unit.

That, plus their sear gives an excellent defense pull. Nice controllable break, not too light of a trigger (comparable to a stock glock with a lighter connector).
