    NOOB - 80% recommendations

I have never built an AR, but am really thinking I'd like to build a .300 blackout pistol. Having never built one and not having the equipment (yet), who would be your go-to brands for an 80% lower?

Your choices come down to forged (most are forged by Cerro) or billet which are build by several different companies in varying outward design. Can't go wrong with Tactical Machining for the forged ones. As for equipment, unless you have the money, room and know-how, a router based jig would be your best bet in getting a functional lower with the least amount of investment. Good luck and have fun.

      80 Percent Arms: http://www.80percentarms.com/

Get one of their lowers, and their easy jig, then have fun.

Thanks for the info. Currently finishing my basement, which will include plenty of room for the firearms and a reloading station, but I think a router based jig will suffice; unless I get REALLY serious about building some more after the first.

I've had good results with the Modulus Arms Jig also. Works with every 80 lower I've tried including the Iconic Industries and the New Frontier 80 lowers.
