My work on a Spectre 'Not'Glock

So I got around to assembling my Spectre frame as a single shot break action. I Made an adjustable guide rod which can be shortened far enough to allow the sear to catch and prime the firing pin. Then just lengthen the guide rod with a screwdriver until the slide is locked and can't move. So with the installed magazine block it's now a single shot pistol which you need to disassemble the action in order to reload. It takes about 4-5 minutes a shot. So with that done I am took the time to fix the grip design. I did not like all the ridges, the honeycomb, or the really square area where the web of the thumb goes. I used a dremel to remove material and get the shape I wanted. Now it's just continuous sanding so it looks fairly smooth. All I really have left is milling the slide and fitting a piece of metal with a serial number into the back of the grip. The slide is just bead blasted stainless steel which I would like to coat in something. Not sure if I should go for Cerakote, blueing, nickel, or blackened stainless.

Anyhow this has been pretty fun to make. I will probably be finished with this over the next couple months.

It is a gunsmith ready slide from Suarez International. It is completely functional and just needs whatever serrations and checkering you want.

Yea it is a 9" Long Wolf barrel. And I made the magazine block myself so I don't know if anyone out there makes one.

You need a chunk of plastic, it measures .920"x.9"x1.5". The .920 dimension is the width of the magwell. Drill and tap for a 5/16-18 thread, needs to go about 1.25". Then cut a slot with a bandsaw that is perpendicular to the .920, needs to go about half an inch. Then just screw in a flathead bolt and you are done. The bolt and tap you can get from a hardware store or online. For the plastic buy some ABS from McMaster-Carr.

You wouldn't want to share you're dimensions and methods for the guide rod, would you? I have some ideas for what to use, but I'm not totally sure where to get it or what the proper name for it is.

Is ot just for the frame to use later?

I was actually thinking about selling them if enough people would be interested. I don't know how many people in this state are going to build a Spectre frame.

Thanks! I plan on putting some cuts in the sides and engrave some things like the caliber and manufacture city and such. I will add photos as it continues.

The reason for single shot first is because the way California law is written in regards to a private citizen making their own pistol. The basics are that you can make a dimensionally compliant single shot pistol that is either break action or bolt action, can't first manufacture a semi-auto pistol. Now there is no law preventing you from converting the single shot pistol into a semi-auto, which means that you can do so. So basically in order to make a semi-auto pistol I am jumping through flaming hoops.
