Before I drill my lower...

I've got a Fulton ARmory FAR-308 lower problem and before I start drilling on it I thought I'd better ask for advice.

The trigger and hammer pin holes are very tight (0.153 measured wiith a Starrett dial caliber). The pins are 0.155. I'm thinking of using a 5/32" (0.15625) drill to clean up the holes.

Is this the right way to do it?

OK. I can do that. But I'm thinking the part you quoted is still too small (0.1550) for non-press fit pins. Reamer 8324A59 is 0.1560. Would that work better?

You can use a 0.1555/0.1560 also.

Or contact Fulton on Monday and see what they suggest.

OK. I can do that. But I'm thinking the part you quoted is still too small (0.1550) for non-press fit pins. Reamer 8324A59 is 0.1560. Would that work better?

Use plenty of light oil or tapmatic fluid while reaming.

Have you measured the trigger and hammer to see if the pins fit?

You didn't happen to get oversized pins intended to rectify worn lower pin holes did you?

Or did the pins come with a match trigger set? A trigger like the Giesselle comes with oversize pins that are meant to be tight.

Have you tried another set of pins?

My Fulton lower was a pain in the @ss. Had to enlarge the takedown pin retainer holes on the receiver. The magazine release button had to be reduced to fit, and the trigger group had to be filed down slightly to drop in. I sanded down the safety lever pin slightly to make it work. All the while, I'm thinking, "Mil-spec LPK minus takedown pins and safety my @ss!"

It sucked, but I made it work, and it's one hell of a tough rifle!

I found a 0.1555 reamer that worked fine. Didn't seem to remove any metal just cleaned out the holes. Still better than beating on them with a hammer.
