    Armorer tools

    No, I haven't done a 'search' here.
    Lazy today.

New to the AR 15 universe.
Sport II outa jail a few weeks back; range time and BIG grins.
Dang!!! This Recoil Therapy zone can be gettin' expensive!!!
Got my first box of 500 bulk to start out...

Given our Nanny State garbage goin' on, I picked up the Sport.
Better able to now than not able to later.
Yeah, I know; 'late to the game'!

I figure it's in my best interests to be able to work on and modify/upgrade/alter my new toy to 'configure' it to the new legalities.
Obviously, we ain't gonna know exactly which way for a while, BUT...
There's a few items that I see now that need be and can be changed out to 'fit the bill'.
I'd much rather be able to do my own stuff than pay a shop to do so for me.
Although sometimes shop work is better than DIY.
Future home builds are a pleasant option once I figure out how to do so!
Lowers, uppers, calibers, stocks, barrels and their lengths and twists, etc.
    Chuckling; this can get addictive!
    Kinda already has...

Asking here for recommended tools to bust it all down (as in: all the way down), be able to remove/add pieces and put back together like I wasn't even in there.
My cleaning kit is decent enough.
Loop attachments in the cleaning patch zone are hard to find!
I got a brass punch set recently. Figured I'd need it later.
Sportsman's Warehouse has a limited supply of toolage at retail rates.
I've got bookmarks set on Brownell's and others.

I'm not 'flush' at the bank, but do have some discretionary funds available.

Toss in your recommends; I'll do appropriate legwork and go from there.
Need to get an AR 15 table mat; a bench vice contraption and others beyond.

Please: Basics first, 'advanced' is down the pipe.
Baby steps to start; once I can walk around, I can pick up more and better toolage.

    And then...there's the reloading universe...
Which might also be in my future.
Reloading is farther down the line, though!

    Tanks, in advance!

    Basic first. Screwdriver.

Stand up and be counted, or lay down and be mounted... -Mac

        Step 1. Google "AR Tools"
        Step 2. Buy them
Step 3. Wait for the Calguns tirade that is coming your direction for your post...
Step 4. Cry or Laugh... Your choice

          OK, you're a good sport.

          Basics:
          Roll Pin Punches

I've used this: Grip Roll Pin Punch Set, 9 Pieces

Lately looking at this, US made set: TEKTON 66564 Gunsmith Punch Set, 18-Piece

          Stock Wrench

Used something similar: Ergo 4959 Tactical Carbine Stock Wrench or Bushmaster F1000518

Digging the Magpul wrench lately (Note combo wrench, stock, barrel, muzzle device etc): MAGPUL ARMORERS WRENCH AR15/M4

          Barrel Wrench

Used: Bushmaster Armorer's Barrel Wrench F1001969 (purchased direct from mfg)

Note for the wrenches, there are a buncha combo wrenches that serve stock, barrel and other functions.

Some types of vise blocks (especially for upper receiver work)

ProMag Armorer's Upper & Lower Receiver Action Block Set AR-15

Magpul BEV is good for muzzle device install too.

          Nice to have:
          Roll Pin Starter Punches
          Bolt Catch Roll Pin Punch
          Pivot Pin Installation Tool

          Regular tools:
          4-8oz Ball Peen Hammer
          Torque Wrench

Screwdrivers (a long one for grip screw is good)
Hex Keys (long one for grip screw too)

Grab some Loctite 37643 Blue Medium Strength Threadlocker Stick, 9-gram for little screws and attachments etc.

eta: For simple, go with this: BROWNELLS - AR-15/M16 CRITICAL TOOLS KIT (on sale and free ship today @ $100) add some roll pin punches and bam, done.

It's usually cheaper to pay a professional than to buy the proper tools if you are only doing a couple builds.

              Thanks all; esp readysetgo.
I did/do deserve a smack down for bein' lazy.
              I appreciate rsg's recommends!
Gives me a road to hoe down and figure out.
AR15: this could end up longer term, as opposed to one/two and done.

Then do not skimp on the tools.
Buy top quality tools right from the start and they will last forever.
