    Bulged shotgun barrel

So I go to the range with a few buddies and find out at the end of the night my shotgun has gotten this lovely bulge and the choke is completely screwed, what could cause this? We had nothing but bird shot/target loads all federal #8 the choke was tight and screwed in all the way down, this is a remington 11-48 that carlson did the choke threading I believe and we had carlson extended choke tubes,

My concern is how to fix it, I believe the best bet would be to cut another 1" or so off the barrel, re thread for chokes. I do believe some bulges can be fixed but I'm guessing with the bulge being on the threads this is unlikely

Jim Hoag warned me years ago not to use steel shot in a full choke tube, unless it is an extended tube, for just that reason. I am wondering if it was a full tube, and if you were using steel shot?

Edit: Sorry, missed that you were using extended choke. I have no clue.

Probably. I would contact Carlson, since they did the modification. How long ago were the choke threads added?
