    Anyone duracoat a AR barrel?

I'm planning on doing it but wanted to see if any members here have already done it and can share how the coating has held up. I read it's good up to 500 degrees but is there any noticeable color change before that?

If you have duracoated your barrel, can you share a picture and also how you've used the gun? (e.g. range toy, training, classes, etc.)

Not sure if this is the right forum for this but I'll move it if need be.

    Thanks in advance!

I don't have a good recent pic...but I coated one of my AK's 6 years ago and it looks just like it did when I first coated it. I use that particular rifle mainly at the range and to shoot jack rabbits with. I have close to 6k rounds through it with the coating. Ive never had it change color as it heats up.

Prep is the key to duracoat...no oil/grease can be on the surface. Use the stripper lwrc sells to clean it. Then...when its done...don't use it for at least 2 weeks so it can harden. They say that reassembly can be done after 24 hrs but it is still 'soft' and will scratch easy. I wait 3 days when I coat.

Awesome thanks so much for the reply! I'm trying the aerosol kit. Will let everyone know how it turns out.
