Post a picture of the stampings as well as another of the whole barrel, showing the contour.

OK guys, here's the pic, and it's a bull bbl. Hope this works....

I may have found the answer to my own question.

        This is from Douglas Barrels

        GRADES OF BARRELS AVAILABLE

A PREMIUM grade barrel is one that has been judged straight in checking. It will be marked with the symbol XX to designate this.

XX for Douglas denotes the middle of 3 grades available from them. The next step up are air gauge selected to be no more than .0001" variance in any given tube. This is consistent with US Military "NM" specifications.

Your particular barrel may be XX and air gauged as well. No way to really tell unless you have the original invoice for that barrel, or your own air gauge!
For this reason I always engrave all of the Mfr's info from the barrel to the underside of the finished barrel. That info is always cut away in the fitting process.

The fact that the XX is stamped on yours like it is would lead me to guess that that particular barrel was fitted at Douglas.

That is indeed how Douglas stamps guns they rebarrel.
