Maybe I should start drinking, lol. I also thought the OP
meant slide serrations when he mentioned slide scallop
    Initially, etc.

I know Colt was the first to use the Shwartz firing pin
safety system in their .38 Super 1911's right before
WWII...Now, Kimber still uses that same system, but
there may be a few others that still do as well...Colt
eventually developed the series 80 version decades
    later IIRC.

Well there you go three people that didn't read the title

You know, if you old timers would get a good CAD program, a whole lot of misunderstanding could be avoided with a screen shot...just sayin'.

FWIW, I still have no idea what scallop yall are talkin about and I have adequately imbibed.

            Figured it out

              Here it is in cross-section:

At the rear of the slide, on the underside, the scallop is quite clear.

                Well played sir.

I should know better than to underestimate you guys.

I'm a SW man myself, what was that from?

Looks like a job for a keyseat cutter ground to the appropriate width or done at multiple depths to me. (Depending on the required diameter/radius)

It was from google image search.
I am an autocad guy, but it's not worth drawing it up when someone else already has.

In an attempt to actually be helpful (directed at myself and no one else), here is a screenshot from the widely distributed and amazing drawings courtesy of Riobenson: http://brlcad.org/design/drafting/M1911-A1_REDUX.pdf

I have CAD and master cam. But i'm not going through the BS to screen shot something I would have to draw up. Randall did it right. Find an image and copy and paste. no need to redo what has already been done.

None of this would be an Issue if I practiced what i preached
