    EZ Jig question

I currently have an 80% Arms AR15 EZ jig. Was also looking at getting the .308 jig. If I understand correctly, the trigger pocket specs for a .223/5.56 AR and a .308 are identical, and the difference is the magwell length. Because I'm cheap, I wanted to find out if anyone has tried this. Could I buy replacement .308 side plates for the jig, and assemble them to my AR15 jig top plate, and have a functional .308 jig, as opposed to buying the whole jig for the .308. I will buy the entire kit if I need to, but as I said, I'm cheap.

    Try emailing the mfg ?
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

usually the manufacturers of jig and lower invite questions but ultimately they say it is not tested. I have personally experienced this with M1 Machining.

A manufacturer of a jig would only vouch for the lower they are selling. They will tell you minimum about the lower compatibility with other lowers.

Usually a jig manufacturer is selling a lower of their own. And vice versa.

Manufacturers are not that helpful for competition jig or lower in my experience.

      my 2 cents.

I ask them and they stated it would not work, I was thinking the same thing, a few years ago, that it maybe possible to just buy the side plates.

All you need to do is trace/Scribe the pocket on the top of lower and cut it out , I don't use the templet guide but once at the beginning , measure the pin holes , and selector and where they need to be from schematic of lR308 and mark them or , use the AR15 side plate to mark them if you have to .. hold in place with a clamp ... Just be sure not to drill those holes from one side , half on each side meet in the middle so they stay straight .... Good luck ...You Can Do It !
