    One more AK...

I started this build a long time back and didn't finish it. I needed a part that I had difficulty finding. When I found a source for the part I couldn't find the time for fitting/fine tuning to complete the build. I'm sure we all know how that goes. This morning I was trying to clean out some space in the safe and remembered I had the part to finish this rifle. A little bit of filing, Dremel work, degreasing, black oxide, then final assembly. I'll probably go back and change that mag lock, I didn't try the black oxide on it but if I remember correctly that batch of mag locks did not react with black oxide. Maybe Kerry, Randall, or one of our other fellow builders can fill me in on why some non stainless steel does not blacken. I should say as far as I know that mag lock is not stainless steel.

Thank you very much for the kind words from my fellow builders. Are you guys doing any AKs? It seems like there has been so much activity with home built modern semi auto pistols it's unusual to see an AK!

I just ordered a heat treated, bent, (cheating I know) 80% receiver from recreatorblanks.

I lucked into a 86 Tula kit for a pistol build for $300.00. I'm slowly putting together the tools to finish the job. Anyone around Redding that has some tools I can barrow?

Not mine but this is what it should look like when I'm done.

Vader I'm gonna be sending you some more frames to engrave, I dig the way the engraving came out, they look factory!
That AK pistol will be a fun shooter!

Bluing and black oxide are different processes.
Bluing only works on steels that have some iron in them.
Stainless steels won't have iron in them, hence they will not react to bluing.
Black oxide works differently and will blacken stainless steels.

I have two Romanian G models that need building. Could use some guidance and tools to build them. Anyone in Ontario, CA area that can help?
