    Roll Pin Punches

I'm going to take down a CZ slide for the first time to upgrade a firing pin and associated springs. I need to buy a 3mm roll pin punch.....will any brand/type do? Or are there different materials or qualities?

Also, in replacing that roll pin, do I really need a "starter roll pin punch" or can I just align it with fingers and tap/punch it in?

    Thanks for any help....amateur hour

My shop is in Costa Mesa. Come over and use my tools if you want. I have TONS of punches, drifts and starter punches. Pm me if needed.

Conversely, If you are going to detail strip and fix your guns in the foreseeable future.
Buy a good set of punches as well as starter punches for roll pins.

Look at Brownells for these tools if you want good ones. If you are low on bucks. Harbor Freight has Chinese versions for stupid cheap.

NOTE: The Harbor Freight BRASS punches are as good as my GRACE (Made in USA) punches.

I use Starrett, Mayhew, Dasco Pro or Snap-On punches for a lot of my detail work. All made in the USA.

Hopefully this bit of data helps you.

        Thanks for the help, twystd!

Right now I'll study up some more and see if I want to just buy some basic starter/roll pin punches. But the info you gave helps a lot.....

I will still keep your post in case I need some help online...or in person
