    Gunsmith or home project?

The space between the frame and trigger guard on my Ruger SP-101 is a bit too tight for my fingers. I want open up the space slightly. There is plenty of stainless steel to work with on the over-engineered trigger guard. Is this a gunsmith job or will home bench tools suffice? I've never worked with stainless steel before. Thanks mucho.

Pics? is it bead blasted? polished? Have you looked on the other side to make sure there is room to remove material? How confident are you? how familiar are you in general with metal working? And above all else, do not use a dremel, take your time and use a good set of files and various grades of sand paper... and have something to hold the workpiece as your working. But... it sounds like you're going to be better off just to take it to Ar15barrels.
If you need help with any stragglers, call a friend, because it's likely that they have a gun. America in particular have done exceptionally well taking care of the problem, as there are 1.12 guns for every 1 American citizen. So throw a rock, you'll probably hit a gun, pick up that gun, then shoot a zombie.

I don't understand which space you're talking about. Are you saying you get pinched between the trigger guard and grip?
if that is the case, why not try a different grip?

Yes, I was thinking too far ahead. New grips are the obvious and easiest change. No files or abrasives on metal. Thanks both.
