    1911 ejector - 45 vs. 9

    Hello all,

I currently have five ejectors in hand from various vendors for my next 9mm build, and while they will work as designed, I don't like the fit of any of them in my slides.

While I think it is somewhat vane to want a minimal-gap fit between ejector and slide in the back, there is just something about this fit below that is "cool" to try to achieve:

I think the one in this picture needs to have more clearance, but that is still a great fit.

Now I know EGW makes an oversized gunsmith fit ejector for the 45 ACP; can this ejector be whittled down to work for the 9mm? In my mind I don't see why not as long as it is worked to fit the 9mm slide slot for the ejector, but wondering what you guys think... If the ejector is not "tall" enough for the smaller 9mm case then that's a whole 'nuther issue that probably cannot be worked out other than welding, or getting the EGW ejector block that is grossly oversized in all areas... So what do you guys think?

Usually 9mm / .38 Super ejector has an extended nose.
A .45 would likely be too short.
You might be able to use a .45 Commander ejector if the nose is long enough.
9/38 on top, I think that is a .45 Commander in the middle, .45 Gov't on bottom:

You cannot whittle an EGW .45 ACP ejector to work for 9mm. Different geometry. Caspian makes the best off the shelf ejectors for filling in this gap, much better than EGW.

We make our ejectors to help solve just this problem. Hardened S7 tool steel, length pre-cut with round clearance. Material added to fit STI and Caspian slides.

Thanks. Limited-Ten I'm gonna place an order for some your parts for my 2011 build. I wasn't going to order the ejector since I have all those other ones already, but I might give it a try to see how it'll fit my Caspian slide... Now if only the Limited-10 steel 80% frame that I ordered would get to me already...

Forgot to mention... I do have the Caspian ejector also and it left big gaps in the fusion slide I used for my first build, which supposedly was a Caspian slide to begin with... I also tried it against a Brazos Custom's modified Caspian slide but still had big gaps. Maybe it is just easier to find over-sized 45 ejectors than others...

I believe it already shipped. I'll double check tonight.

beautiful looking ejector, definitely going to pick one up during your next sale.

by the way, what's the pin diameter on your 9mm slide stop? i couldn't find it noted on the website.
