80% Jig Compatibility

My friend have a 80% lower jig that he bought at the same time with his 80% lower at a show. I am trying to find out if it will work with other 80% lower. One vendor said that it probably will if it is DPMS style. But when I read more, it seem that only apply to ar10. Could anyone help clarify it?

You need to give more info. What company jig and for what model.

AR-10's FCG is not located at the same spot as a DPMS what so ever so if the jig is for AR-10 it will never fit an DPMS.

A 308 AR's jig will never fit an AR-15 as they normally locate off the takedown/pivot pin holes.

Also the OD profiles will be different as most are billet but that can be fit with a file and lipstick/dykam/magicmarker/etc/etc.

I don't the brand of the ar15 jig that he has. I am trying to buy ar15 80% not ar10 that's why the vendor reply confuse me.

OD= outside dimension.

Milspec forgings are ubiquitous so the jigs should all work

Billets OD is not milspec so one jig wont work on another, however as I explained its a 5 min job to fit an AR-15 jig.

So you have to answer is the jig made for a milspec forging or some random billet?

As mentioned, the DPMS has no bearing on this since that is related to AR-308 and AR-10. You are looking at AR-15's.

The jig will most likely work with other forged lowers. They aren't all exactly the same but you should be able to make it work.

I was able to modify my TM gen 2 jig to fit some popular cast A380 and polymer lowers. It is a tad more universal now. Don't be afraid to use the endmill on the jig

Just because..

I have both the ar10 & the ar15 80% Ez jig... The ar 15 jig is pretty universal ..But not the ar10 jig... It only fits their light weight 80% blanks.... Unless you modify the left and right jig walls and then it will work for a regular LR 308 Jig... I've completed 2 now... Watch the videos and print out the instruction and take your time... An extra set of eyes doesn't hurt either..


And it takes 4-5 hours... One hour noway Jose...

I had a customer a few years ago fir one to about every billet out there. You are right it doesnt take much to fit them. He used a hand file set.

OP thats a forged AR-15 ModulusArms is 100% right.
