308 BUFFER WITH SOLID BUILT IN INSERTS?

A couple of months ago, I bought a Radical Firearms carbine buffer plus some other stuff for my 308 build.
I read about a lightweight build on another forum, where the builder, removed the weight inserts on his buffer.
I looked at mine to see how it would work, and I was surprised that my buffer doesn't even have that rattling sound when I shaked the buffer.
I removed the rubber/plastic rear end this morning, and noticed that the weight is built in.

Isn't all buffers supposed to have weight inserts that are removable? or is normal on 308 ARs?

Yes, all buffers should have some sliding weights.
The purpose of the weights is to close the bolt carrier after it bounces off of the barrel extension.
If you remove all the weights, there is a chance of the bolt bouncing and NOT closing fully again.
This would generally produce failures to fire.

Thanks Randall. Yeah, that's how I read what those inserts are supposed to be for.
So what do you think about this buffer from Radical Firearms? I read some reviews from Primary Arms, where I bought it, most say it works. I'm guessing the adjustable gas block, that most 308 builders use, play a part in making it work reliably?

I would not be a fan of a buffer without moving elements.
