Hello. I have a spot on my P38 that could use a zap of a tig welder. Its where the spring guide rides along the rail in the slide. Looks like it had worn through. Seems like the spring guide was rough on the edges and may have worn through it. Well I replaced the guides, but the hole causes some slight resistance. I definitely do not want to use my mig on it. I'd rather someone who TIG's to fill in that gap. I'm in Ventura, any leads are appreciated. Thanks guys/Gals!

It would be NO fun to tig weld up that little hole down inside the channel.
There is a risk that the whole channel might become part of the weld, which means re-cutting the channel afterwards.
How about a picture from the other side?
This might be a good candidate for micro laser welding.Last edited by ar15barrels; 02-13-2016, 12:45 PM.Randall Rausch

It looks a lot easier to access from that side.
If I were to attempt this, I would make a copper or brass filler block and clamp that block in the channel.
Then I would fill the hole from the back side and dress the excess weld back down flat inside the magazine well.

Ok, well please let me know if you are able to, or have time to do something on it. I'don't be interested.

That area looks super thin.
I am more concerned with the CAUSE of the hole than the actual hole.
It looks like a spring just slides in that channel, but a spring is not going to dig a hole like that.
