Thank you all for the advice. I just found that Fusion isn't working near as well for me as I thought when I tried something more complicated than an AR15 pocket for my Ghost Gunner. Then again the problem is likely mine. Anyway, I will look at the other packages and see who has trial software to try before I buy.

You can download a surfcam trial as well

SURFCAM is a CAD CAM system capable of creating efficient and reliable 2D through to 5-axis milling toolpaths.

Thank you. I will take a look. I probably better settle on something soon but I do learn from trying different cam software.

Just an idea, but if your CNC mill doesn't have an automatic tool changer, you could do all your 3/8" work, then switch to the 1/4" endmill and change to a program that just does the trigger slot. If you have a program that does them both, just erase everything you don't need above the tool change for the new program. Also, not all endmills are created equal, try some solid carbide three flute endmills designed for aluminum, if you can get them zrn coated, even better.

I'm a Cnc programmer/machinist. I do my lowers with a 1/4" 3 flute coated endmill. You can use a 3/8 em but it requires a little more hp to spin the tool. I'd use a 3/8 if I had a machine like a haas to mill the FCg. But with that machine you have I'd stay with a 1/4 em.

Do you have a dxf or dwg of the lower?
